Raw Mango Dal
The
Mango Dal is an easy and tasty dal which goes well with steamed rice topped
with Ghee. One can always skip adding garlic. If the mango is not sour enough
you can add a little tamarind pulp while cooking your dal.

Method
1. Soak toor and
moong dal for ½ hour. Drain the water and add fresh water to the dal and
combine chopped raw mango, chopped onion, ginger, garlic , turmeric powder
and red chilli powder and pressure cook it for 4-5 whistles.
2. Once the
pressure goes down, add salt and mix well.
3. Heat ghee for
tempering. Add mustard and fenugreek seeds. After the seeds crackle add
asafetida and the slit green chillies and broken dry red chillies along with
curry leaves.
4. Pour the
tempering over the cooked dal.
5. Mix well and
simmer for 5 minutes and garnish with coriander leaves.
6. Serve with
steamed rice.
