Balekai Palya



Semi dry curry using raw banana – Balekai Palya. A good accompaniment for Rasam Rice, Curd Rice and Chapatis.

Raw Banana
Tomato
Garlic Pods
Green Chillies
Curry Leaves

Method
1.     Chop the tomatoes and pressure cook the raw bananas with its skin in a cooker for 3-4 whistles.
 
2.     Crush green chillies, garlic and a little salt together. 
3.     Once the bananas are pressure cooked, let them cool down a bit. Now peel off the skin and cut them into small pieces.
 
4.     Heat oil in a pan and make the seasoning. To this add the crushed green chilli and garlic mixture and sauté for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
 
 Add chopped tomatoes and sauté again for 4-5 minutes.
 
5.     Add the banana pieces and some turmeric powder, salt and some jaggery (if you wish to).
 
6.     Mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
