Mixed Leafs – Spinach (Palak), Dill (Sabakshi), Fenugreek
(Menthe) leaves
Potatoes
Onion

Method
1. Wash and chop potato to
bite size pieces. Cut onion to bite size pieces too.
2. Wash and chop finely all
the leafy vegetables (Dill – Sabakshi Soppu, Spinach – Palak Soppu and
Fenugreek – Menthe Soppu leaves).
3. Pressure cook the dal and
set aside.
4. With 1 cup of water cook
all the leafy vegetables, onion and potatoes together for 10-15 minutes on
medium flame.
5. To the cooked Dal mix the
cooked vegetables, add tamarind pulp, salt and jaggery.
6. Grind coconut (fresh/
frozen) with Sambar powder to a smooth paste.
7. Add cooked dal and ground
masala and let it boil.
8. Add curry leaves and
season the Sambar.
9. Adjust the consistency of
Sambar accordingly.
