Tomato Tovve / Tomato Dal


Tomato Tovve/dal is another version of Daal. Simple and lighter than other dals. Goes well with steamed rice and hot roti’s.

Toor Dal
Grape Tomatoes
Onion
Green Chillies
Grated Ginger
Lemon Juice
Fenugreek Seeds
Salt and Sugar

Method
1.  Half the grape tomatoes and slit green chillies. Cut onion into small pieces.
2.  Cook toor dal, fenugreek seeds and tomatoes in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles.
3.   Now heat oil in a pan / vessel and do the seasoning and sauté chopped onion for 3-4 minutes. Add cooked dal, tomatoes. Add green chillies, grated ginger, salt and sugar. Let it boil on low to medium flame.
4.  Add water to adjust the consistency of the dal.
5.  Switch of flame. Squeeze lime / lemon to taste and garnish with coriander leaves.
