Koddel) . This one is with dal and a little coconut.

Method
1.
Pressure cook the dal and set aside.
2.
Cut pumpkin to desired size; put it in a vessel with a cup
of water and cook till the water boils.
3.
Add tamarind pulp, salt and jaggery.
4.
Grind coconut (fresh/ frozen) with Sambar powder to a smooth
paste.
5.
Add cooked dal and ground masala and let it boil.
6.
Add curry leaves and season the Sambar.
7.
Adjust the consistency of Sambar accordingly.
8.
Ash gourd Sambar also can be prepared in the same way.
9. Serve with steamed rice.
