Bendekai Gojju/ Okra in sweet and tangy gravy
Okra/Lady Finger is Bendekai in Kannada.As the name suggests
it a sweet and tangy that’s why It is Gojju. It’s absolutely delicious!!!!

Bendekai/Okra
Tamarind Pulp
Jaggery
Turmeric Powder
Salt
Curry Leaves

Dry Red Chilli
Chana dal
Urad dal
Fenugreek Seeds

Method
1.
Wash the Okra and dry whip them. Cut them into ½ inch round
size.
2.
In a separate pan add the masala ingredients together and
dry roast them till it is light brown in color.
3.
Adjust the red chilli according to your taste.
4.
After it cools powder the masala and keep it aside.
5.
Now heat the cooking pan and season with the ingredients
above.
6.
Add the cut okra and let it fry for 4-5 minutes in a medium
flame.
7.
Lower the flame and add the tamarind pulp, turmeric powder,
salt and jaggery.
8.
Add ½ cup of water. Let the gravy boil for 5 minutes.
9.
Now add the masala powder to the boiling mixture.
10. Mix properly and let the
gravy boil for 5-6 minutes.
11.
Add the Curry leaves and switch the stove off.
12. Serve with Steamed rice
or Roti.
